About the Scott Rindfleish Foundation

The Scott Rindfleish Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness, supporting research, and driving advocacy to strike out bowel cancer. Inspired by Scott’s legacy, we are committed to improving early detection, supporting individuals and families impacted by bowel cancer, and contributing to a future where fewer lives are lost to this disease.

As a volunteer-led organisation, we are building a strong and skilled Board of Directors to guide our strategy, strengthen governance, and ensure we achieve meaningful impact in the community.

Role of a Board Member

Board Members play a critical role in shaping the vision and direction of the Foundation by contributing their professional expertise to strengthen governance, strategy, and long-term sustainability while monitoring risk, compliance, and financial performance to ensure accountability and transparency. They act as ambassadors for our mission, advocating for the Foundation within their networks and the broader community, while also supporting fundraising and profile-raising initiatives.

Board members are expected to:

  • Attend monthly board meetings (held online).
  • Attend events as required.
  • Contribute actively to discussions, decision-making, committees and working groups as needed.
  • Complete tasks as required to drive the work of the Foundation.
  • Champion the mission of the Foundation within your networks and community.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow board members and volunteers to achieve the Foundation’s goals.

Skills and Expertise

We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals with skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Advocacy & Policy – influencing public policy, community advocacy, government relations.
  • Governance & Strategy – board governance, organisational leadership, risk management.
  • Finance & Accounting – financial management, audit, investment oversight.
  • Fundraising & Philanthropy – donor engagement, partnerships, sponsorship, events.
  • Medical Knowledge – clinical expertise in bowel cancer, oncology, public health.
  • Marketing & Communications – brand development, media, campaigns, community engagement.
  • Legal & Compliance – not-for-profit law, contracts, regulatory compliance.
  • ICT & Digital – technology strategy, digital transformation.

This is a voluntary position. Board members are not remunerated but have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the community.All board members are required to hold a Directors ID and maintain a current Working With Children Check.
